Live LIVING IN BOSSIER Bossier-Shreveport is uniquely situated as the hub – for culture and commerce – in the three-state region, known as the Ark-La-Tex. Located in the northwest corner of Louisiana, Bossier-Shreveport is centrally located among major metropolitan areas such as Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Little Rock, Jackson, Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Bossier-Shreveport is located at the intersection of Interstate 20 and Interstate 49 with Interstate 220 providing a loop around the twin cities. Situated on the Red River, a navigable waterway with access to the Mississippi River, Bossier is a growing city in the heart of it all! In addition to that, the climate in Bossier-Shreveport is humid subtropical where rainfall is abundant and boasts an average of 211 sunny days per year. Life in Bossier is enjoyable for both the single person and the family. There is a little of everything here so no one will be wanting for entertainment. Our region boasts numerous gated communities, lavish estates, lakefront and golf course views, charming patio homes, and historic districts – offering residents diverse options and affordable living. Our myriad of fine neighborhoods to choose from will keep you within minutes of everything you could want or need. Check out this drone footage of the latest from the Bossier Re-envisioning Project! The city is revamping what was considered the old downtown area, complete with a bike lane, plaza and more! There already are some great local businesses in that area and this project will bring even more specialty retailers to the area. See the progress from September and July! Bossier is the fastest-growing parish north of Interstate 10 with a population in excess of 125,000 people. Being the Sheriff of the fastest-growing parish north of I-10 presents daily challenges and demands. In order to streamline efforts, maximize resources and avoid duplication of services, I have joined with other law enforcement agencies and created the Bossier Combined Narcotics Task Force and the Bossier Financial Crimes Task Forces. The Bossier Sheriff’s Office motto is: CPR, Courteous, Professional and Responsive This motto allows the public to know what they should expect from us and constantly reminds us of our responsibility to the residents of Bossier Parish. Working with 450 dedicated employees to bring a safe and continued quality of life to the residents of Bossier Parish is my goal. Julian C. Whittington, Bossier Sheriff As you make your decision to relocate, we know you may like to look at statistics – don’t rely on national websites alone, they are NOT always accurate. The Bossier City and Bossier Parish Sheriff departments have broken down the statistics for the past several years to show you how their “no tolerance” attitude in our community continues to work as our population continues to grow. We welcome you to Bossier and are sure that you will soon be feeling right at home.
