EDUCATION IN BOSSIER

Northwest Louisiana has many options to meet student’s needs, from private to public, charter to magnet; our region’s schools prepare students for success and to meet the standards for future jobs. Serving 21,655 students in the Parish, Bossier Schools’ strength is neighborhood schools. The Bossier Parish School System is deemed the fastest growing district in North Louisiana, which is directly related to the influx of young families who are choosing to make Bossier Parish their home. To keep up with growth demands, the Bossier School System is embarking on a 10-year building program which will result in a new elementary, middle and high school as well as the Bossier Center for Technology and Advanced Learning.

Bossier Schools take an innovative and proactive approach to education by challenging students each day with creative and project-driven learning activities. Each school offers every child a full array of learning opportunities, from Honors classes and Advanced Placement to Robotics, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and enhanced enrichment courses.

The Bossier School System is also recognized for continually exceeding the state average in test scores and employs a high percentage of National Certified employees and strives to hire and place Highly Qualified and Certified personnel in all classrooms. Our high school seniors are awarded millions of dollars in scholarships each year.

  • Unique to this area is Bossier Schools’ Military Student Coordinator, a licensed counselor who serves as an expert “navigator” and advocate for military-connected students and their families as they transition into and out of the school district. The MSC provides an on-going continuum of care to help students and parents navigate the often-confusing paths associated with school transitions. This is accomplished by addressing challenges and needs, facilitating connections to school, installation and community resources, educating others on the unique needs of military-connected students and providing the best support possible.

In partnership with the region’s school system, the Cyber Innovation Center created the National Integrated Cyber Education Research Center (NICERC) to advance its academic outreach and workforce development program. NICERC focuses on curriculum design, professional development, and collaboration in K-12 education. Project-driven curricula creates a context for the content at every level of learning. Professional development programs for K-12 teachers enable them to motivate creativity and innovation in students through problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication. The programs offered through NICERC provide a collaborative and comprehensive solution that fosters systemic change in education.
